BCP is led by Jim Bernhard, Founder and former Chairman and CEO of The Shaw Group. Over 25 years, The Shaw Group grew from a small pipe fabrication company to a Fortune 500, global, energy services-focused firm with significant engineering, construction, environmental, manufacturing, and other energy service capabilities. Its growth is partly attributable to acquisitions, which included a sophisticated rollup of pipe fabrication and manufacturing businesses, the integration of energy engineering & construction capabilities achieved through the acquisition of Stone & Webster in 2000, and the opportunistic acquisition of the IT Group in 2002 that expanded The Shaw Group into the growing environmental and infrastructure services sector and allowed it to become a preferred service provider to a diverse group of Fortune 100 commercial clients and governmental agencies.
With a successful M&A strategy and best-in-class operational-focus, The Shaw Group grew to over 25,000 employees across 150 locations worldwide and generated over $6 billion in annual revenue.
In February 2013, the Jim Bernhard led management team negotiated the sale of The Shaw Group to Chicago Bridge & Iron for $3.3 billion.
Following the sale, members of The Shaw Group executive management team established BCP to become an investment firm focused on generating long-term investment returns by leveraging the team’s 25 years of industry expertise and relationships to invest across the energy services spectrum. In addition, BCP has seasoned private equity and deal execution professionals as well as operating partners dedicated to sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities and managing portfolio assets.
