Jeffrey Koonce

Partner

Jeff Koonce is a Partner of BCP. He serves as a member of the Investment Committee and is involved in all areas of the firm’s investment activities.

Prior to his current role, Jeff served as a Managing Director and as General Counsel at BCP. Before joining BCP, he was a partner at Phelps Dunbar, LLP where he focused on federal and state taxation, business formations and business transactions. Jeff has been recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Louisiana Super Lawyers and was recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” in tax law by The Best Lawyers in America. He is the Past-President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Society of Louisiana CPAs, a Past-Board Member of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Past-Chairman of the Louisiana State Bar Association Tax Law Advisory Commission. Jeff served as an adjunct professor at the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center from 2004-2017, where he taught federal income taxation, and he has previously served as an adjunct professor at the Louisiana State University E. J. Ourso College of Business. He is the author of West’s Louisiana Civil Law Treatise on Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships: A Guide to Business and Tax Planning. Jeff is involved in his community as Chair-Elect of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, Executive Committee member of the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, Past-Chairman of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, Past-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, Past-President of Capital City Kiwanis, a graduate of Leadership Baton Rouge and a graduate of Leadership Louisiana.

Jeff received his B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University and is a certified public accountant (inactive). He received his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center and his L.L.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.
